What information is collected and why?

When you sign up to receive the Rove Handmade newsletter, the email address you provide is collected and shared with MailChimp, whose services I use to create and send newsletter emails. I use this information to send you news and updates related to Rove Handmade, such as pattern releases, promotions, events, and more. After you sign up, an email is sent to you to confirm your subscription. You will not receive newsletter emails if you do not confirm. You can also unsubscribe at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter.

When you sign up to become a pattern tester, information you provide such as your first and last name, email address, Ravelry ID, Instagram handle, and crochet experience is collected and shared with MailChimp, whose services I use to create and send testing call emails. I use this information to send you news about upcoming pattern tests and to select testers. After you sign up, an email is sent to you to confirm your subscription. You will not receive testing call emails if you do not confirm. You can also unsubscribe at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of testing call emails.

When you purchase a PDF pattern or ebook download through this website, your payment information is processed through Ravelry’s shopping cart and PayPal. I do not receive your payment account information.

When you purchase a physical product through this website, such as a crochet kit, your payment account information is processed through Paypal. I do not receive your payment account information, but may retain other information that you provide upon purchase, such as your name, address, email address, and payment method (i.e. Paypal) to fulfill your order and for accounting and tax purposes.

When you send me an email or use the contact form on this website, I may retain your email address and messages to respond to your inquiries and improve service. Unless you have explicitly signed up and confirmed that you want to receive the newsletter, testing calls, or other communication, your email address will not be used for these purposes.

When you leave a comment on a blog post, information such as the name you provide and the comment itself is publicly visible. Your email address is not visible to the public.


How long is my information kept?

The information you provide may be retained for as long as is necessary to provide you with the agreed services or as long as is legally required, for example, for accounting and tax purposes.


Who is my information shared with?

As outlined above, your information is sometimes shared with third party services used to provide agreed services to you. I do not share or sell the information you provide with anyone else or for any other purpose than those outlined in this privacy policy. Following are the third-party services I currently use in relation to this website (you are encouraged to read their privacy policies):

  • Mailchimp - Collects information you provide such as name and email address to send newsletters and pattern test calls

  • Paypal - Payment provider for sales made through this website. I am provided with your name and email address, and, if applicable, your mailing address, to provide you with services related to your purchase. I do not receive your payment account information.

  • Ravelry - Shopping cart for PDF pattern purchases, processed through Paypal. Information such as your name, email address, and Ravelry ID is collected by Ravelry. I do not receive your payment account information.

  • Squarespace - Provides the platform for this website and may place cookies on your browser to improve your experience using the site (see also What are cookies below). Squarespace provides a secure connection between your browser and this website.
