2015! It's hard to believe another year is upon us already. I'm always amazed at how quickly each year seems to pass, and I'm usually left thinking too much about all the things I didn't do, and not enough about the things I did.
Looking back, 2014 was another eventful year in terms of "life"-type stuff. I travelled to Canada to help my parents pack up to move to a new city after 40 years in the same house, completed a university certificate course I'd started back at the end of 2012, lost my day job, started a new job in a new field, and finished another course. I was also lucky to spend a week up north with H's family and a month of pure holiday time at my family's new home this past summer. In the middle of all that, creative projects took a back seat and I let some things slide (like the blog). Even so, I did still manage to get two crochet patterns accepted for publication, find a new stockist for my work (more on that later), crochet a couple of things for myself, and even sell a few items on Etsy. So instead of lamenting the goals I didn't accomplish last year, I'm going to pat myself on the back for actually getting quite a lot done, thanks very much!
It's just that there are so many things I want to do - I'm always setting goals, making plans, making lists - and I wind up putting more on my plate than I can possibly finish. Looking ahead to 2015, focus and balance are the words that keep coming to mind. I want to focus more on creative endeavors, and find a better balance between work and play. Most of all, I want to focus better on whatever I'm doing at a given time - to be present in each moment. That probably means choosing a bit more carefully what goes on the list in the first place, and remembering that it doesn't all have to get done at once.
Here's to a happy and creative 2015!
