I finished the circles & dots blanket, and also a ripple one (which was waiting for ends to be woven in and blocking). Now I'm ready for something different.
I'm leaning towards natural, undyed lopi colours (called sauðalitir in Icelandic) , which is partly why I was so anxious to rid myself of all that stash yarn - I've realized that working with a lot of colour just doesn't come all that naturally to me. Neutrals are definitely more my comfort zone. So in a way, it's been a bit cleansing, sort of like "Whew! OK, let's start fresh!"
I've also been inspired by traditional Icelandic knitting patterns, particularly shawl patterns and colourways, and how to translate that "feeling" to crocheted things. The idea really started here, and the ripple blanket got me thinking some more, which led to some sketching and swatching.
I know the bright pink is neither a neutral nor natural shade, and it's actually been in my stash for some time (OK, so I didn't use quite everything up) - I just couldn't find a way to fit it into my other projects, and since it was full skein I felt like I should reserve it for something "bigger", though what I'm not sure. I'm sure it will find it's way into something.
