Spring is finally here, at least officially, at least for today (it is Iceland, after all). It's been such a long winter and I've quite literally been hibernating for most of it. I really needed a good dose of vitamin D, and even though we had all kinds of weather today - rain, sun, even snow - the blue skies looked like they'd hold out long enough for a walk this afternoon, so out we went.
We started with cake and tea at one of our favourite spots, then decided to get lunch because why not? We took a long, leisurely stroll downtown and back home again, cutting through Hólavallagarður cemetery on the way. I love cemeteries, this one especially. It's huge and old and full of moss-covered stones, some of which are so worn and rounded from years of weather that they look like rocks.
I even saw some tulips coming up. I hope that means that this winter is finally over (strike that - it's snowing again…).
